In the winter of 2007 and 2008, Broadway produced and aired a four part television series Biblion: Bible Mysteries Revealed on NBC. Kyle Lake of Prosper Media Group in Lexington, Kentucky worked with Dr. Dan Owen and Mike Moore to produce Biblion. The first series will air again this summer throughout Western Kentucky, Southern Illinois, West Tennessee and Southeastern Missouri.
The "History Channel-style" shows were based upon Dan Owen's books, How We Got the Bible. The series identified the origin of the Bible, explained the canon of scripture and how the particular books of the Bible came to be included in it, and detailed how the Bible text was accurately preserved through the centuries. The final program examined the history of the English Bible. The series will also air soon in markets all across the country. Part 4 airs this Saturday, June 21st at noon on WPSD-NBC.
The initial four part series explaining How We Got the Bible is availabe on DVD. A donation of $15 helps to cover the cost of production. Congregations may consider using it for special outreach series on Sunday evenings, a special Wednesday evening series, or for use in other community formats.
The second series of Biblion: Bible Mysteries Revealed will premiere in our region this summer beginning on July 12th on WPSD-NBC. The four part series will explain: 1) Mysteries of the Afterlife, 2) Mysteries of Angels & Demons, 3) Mysteries of the "Historical Jesus" and 4) Mysteries of the Rite of Baptism. Make sure to tune in or set your recorders. You won't want to miss a single minute of Biblion!
